EDITOR: I’m willing to grudgingly accept that it (somehow) makes sense that
the professors on our college campuses are far left of the general population.
I’m also willing to accept the virtue of outreach to those from disadvantaged
portions of the community.
But I can’t accept that Professor Phillips expects Sonoma State University
not to reflect the community of residence (”Is SSU too white and wealthy?”
Monday). I think he is the victim of bad map directions and really intended to
take up tenure at San Jose State.
Hey, Phillips, SSU is 79 percent white because that reflects Rohnert Park.
I guess his job isn’t at risk these days, huh?
